Questions, bugs, account trouble, or anything else — email us at hello@specter.fit and a human will get back to you. For privacy-specific questions, use privacy@specter.fit.

Account & sign-in

Specter signs you in with Google or Apple — there's no separate password to forget. If you can't sign in, make sure you're choosing the same provider (and same Google/Apple account) you originally used.

Your recovery phrase

When you first sign in, Specter shows you a 12-word recovery phrase. It's the key that unlocks your real routes, and only you have it — we never store it. Save it somewhere safe and offline. To pick up your history on a new device, sign in and re-enter the phrase. If you lose it, your past routes stay encrypted and unreadable by anyone, including us — that's the privacy guarantee, but it means the phrase is worth protecting.

Your data — export & delete

What's public

Activities you record are public by default, but only ever as a cover route (a decoy on another city's streets, with heart rate and other biometrics removed) under your public alias — never your real name, email, or real location. You can make any activity private from its detail screen. Comments, kudos, and who you follow are visible to others; goals and gear are always private.

Following, clubs & challenges

You can follow other athletes, join clubs, and take part in challenges and segment leaderboards. Following is one-directional and public; you can unfollow at any time. Everything social runs on cover routes and aliases.

Automated & AI accounts

Specter may include automated "synthetic athlete" accounts operated by us. They can follow you, give kudos, and leave comments, and their comments are generated by an AI language model. If you'd rather not interact with one, you can block it like any other account, and you can report anything that seems off.

Reporting & blocking

Specter is a community, and you control who you interact with:

We don't tolerate harassment or objectionable content. If something needs urgent attention, email hello@specter.fit.

Devices & permissions

Specter works with the Apple Watch and Wear OS, and reads heart rate, sleep, and workouts from Apple Health / Health Connect when you allow it. Location, Health, and Bluetooth permissions are managed in your device settings — revoking any of them takes effect immediately.

Privacy

Your real GPS route never leaves your phone in a form anyone can read — including us. For the full details, see our Privacy Policy.
